We will be writing to you ONE WEEK before the event also. And then it’s time to don the Tweed.
1. Entries update
2. Win a Sea to Summit portable Shower
3. Timing System
4. Car park reminder and camping permits
1. Entries update
The Mighty Deerstalker 10K is now full and we are only able to accept entries to the 5k race. We have only a few places left so if you know people who still want in, hurry on down to www.themightydeerstalker.com as these will close once the last places sell out. A week before the event the entry list will be published on the Deerstalker website.
2. Win a Sea to Summit portable Shower
It’s a mucky business, this event. After your exploits at the Mighty Deerstalker you may be wishing to wash yourself down. If the river is not for you then fear not! Sea To Summit have kindly offered a free prize draw with 10 wash kits up for grabs, including the 10 litre Pocket Shower, Drylite Towel and Pocket Soap kits with a value of £29.97.*
Race sponsor Sea To Summit offer a great array of outdoor kit that is ideal for the conditions that can greet you at the Mighty Deerstalker. The eVac range of Dry Sacks are great bits of kit to keep your belongings dry as they are constructed using waterproof, air permeable eVENT® fabric on the base for its valve-free air expelling innovation and compact packing capabilities. (Basically, a bag that can be squashed down as the air is allowed to get out but water cannot get in. Hence space saving and dry.)
To be entered into the free prize draw* all you need to do is make a purchase from the ‘Deerstalker Picks’ at www.UrbanAdventureGear.com by Sunday 15th March. There you will find some great deals on:
-Petzl Myo head torches
-Sea To Summit eVac dry bags
-Adventure Medical Kits
-Bridgedale socks
-Inov8 packs and shoes
-Mighty Deerstalker special edition T shirts and Buffs.
3. Timing System
For this event we are pleased to introduce the FinishLine Chip Timing System. We will be issuing chip timing devices that you will attach to your shoe laces. It is imperative that you hand them back individually after the finish line, and that we can account for your return from the run.
4. Car park reminder and camping permits
As a reminder: Please consider sharing cars, even if this means parking in Innerleithen and then bringing one car into the event centre area at Traquair. There are two car parks that you will be directed to as you approach Traquair House: One is a field that could get dicy in wet weather. The other is a very large hard standing area where we will ask all large vehicles to park, including big vans, campers, caravans and the like. This car park is shown on the course map as the ‘P’ symbol between Traquair House and Innerleithen. Please follow the instructions of the stewards - be patient and polite. Camping is free and we welcome you and your throng to the Deerstalker camp site. In order for us to allocate pitches, we request that everyone who would like to camp downloads
the CAMPING PERMIT from our website here. One is required per VEHICLE, not per tent. If you are traveling as a group in multiple vehicles, please ensure each vehicle is displaying a permit on the dashboard. You will then be directed to the camping parking area and you may pitch your tent with the instructions of the camping marshals. It is essential that if you want to camp, you download a permit. This also helps us plan for numbers of people camping and helps with the organisation of the car parking operation, so please work with us on this. It’s for everyone’s benefit.
That’s all for now. Expect a mail from us one week before the event. And then it’s time to face the Deerstalker on Saturday 21st March 2009.
Yours in Tweed,
The Laird
